Read your own DRM-free EPUB aloud online with AI text-to-speech. Choose a file, select a chapter, and listen with synchronized highlighting. Keep the book's chapters, typography, and reading position as you switch between reading and listening.
Start listening free, then keep your place
Try your own EPUB with a one-time 20,000-character guest trial, shared across readers, without an account or credit card. A signed-in Free account includes 200,000 Reader characters per month. The guest trial does not reset; create a free account to continue when it is used up. If you reach your Free account's monthly limit, wait for the next allowance period or upgrade. The reader shows your remaining allowance. You can keep reading the EPUB when listening is paused.
How to read an EPUB aloud in three steps
- Choose an EPUB. Open a DRM-free, reflowable .epub file that you own or are authorized to use.
- Check the structure. Use the table of contents to select a chapter and confirm that headings, paragraphs, and reading order look right.
- Start from any sentence. Prepare a narrator, click where listening should begin, and adjust speed, highlighting, or the sleep timer as needed.
No EPUB handy? Try a sample to open our original six-chapter book directly in the reader. Press Play when you are ready; sample narration uses your normal allowance. Looking for course reading? Find a textbook and choose a reviewed section.
What is EPUB TTS?
EPUB TTS is text-to-speech for an EPUB file: readable book text is turned into spoken audio while the reader keeps chapter navigation, page context, and the current position available. In iReadAll, you prepare a natural AI narrator and can begin at a selected sentence. This EPUB voice-reader workflow is for personal listening; it does not convert the whole book into a portable, mastered audiobook.
Which EPUB files work with text-to-speech?
The reader is designed for DRM-free, reflowable EPUB files. Reflowable means that text can resize and rearrange itself to fit the screen, which gives the reader dependable paragraphs to display and narrate. A well-made navigation document also preserves the publisher's chapter structure, making a long book easier to resume than a single block of extracted text.

Fixed-layout picture books can keep their designed pages while you listen, or switch to a continuous text view. Books with supported publisher audio also offer a Book audio source. Image-only pages can use optional text recognition after you enable it. Review recognized text before listening. Publication scripts stay disabled, and complex layouts, tables and mathematical notation still deserve a visual check. For page-faithful documents or scans, the PDF Voice Reader is usually the better starting point.
Voice, audio, and read-along controls
Reader AI narration supports 10 languages: English, Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic. Adjust EPUB playback from 0.5–3× speed. Voice availability for device narration depends on your browser and operating system. The voice and audio controls remain inside the EPUB reader. Chapter navigation and synchronized highlighting let you follow the current sentence without losing the surrounding page. You can change narration speed, skip by sentence, search the publication, add bookmarks and annotations, and choose whether speech continues at a chapter boundary. Typography controls cover font, size, line height, margins, page width, flow, and background theme. Saved reading and listening positions let you return to the same place, while a sleep timer can stop after a selected interval or at the end of the chapter.
Offline chapter audio is a browser cache, not a conventional audiobook download. After a voice is prepared, you can cache the current chapter, upcoming chapters, or an eligible book; the reader estimates storage and applies safety limits before a large job. Cached clips remain tied to this browser and voice selection. For editable chapter files, narrator casting, mastering, and publishing output, use Audiobook Creator and review every chapter before distribution.
EPUB privacy: local files and AI voice processing
The EPUB file is parsed and stored in this browser by default, along with reading position and preferences. Opening a book can send up to 2,000 characters of body text to prepare a narrator; this does not upload the EPUB file or start playback. Listening passages are sent when you request AI narration. Signed-in readers may sync progress, bookmarks and annotations, and separately opt in to encrypted file sync for an individual book. Review the Privacy Policy before using confidential or restricted material.
