A PDF you choose from your device opens locally in this browser. When online narration is enabled, up to 2,000 characters of available body text can prepare a voice in the background; playback starts when you choose Listen. Online recognition uploads only pages within your confirmed scope. On-device recognition keeps the extracted text local until you enable online narration. Cloud file and audio saving are separate choices. Read the Privacy Policy before opening confidential material.
Original library PDFs are free to read. Editions marked Free audio include published AI narration that does not use your listening allowance. Some recordings cover the article text; references and publication details remain in the original PDF. The player and edition page identify that scope. Need a document? Find PDFs by topic, title, author, or DOI.
Opening a library PDF fetches its published file without starting voice design or audio generation. Published narration loads when you press play. If published free audio is unavailable, you can retry or keep reading; the reader does not automatically generate replacement audio using your allowance.
